FLOODED LEAD ACID BATTERIES
Flooded lead acid batteries are the most common highly used batteries in many applications throughout the industry. They are by far the most simplistic, lowest cost, forgiving, and readily available energy storage system available to date.
BATTERY CABLES: The battery cables used in the system are all 1/0 welding cables. Each of the battery connections is an automotive top post giving you the best connection possible. Each of the cable ends are crimped and soldered to the cable then a double walled heat shrink is applied to seal between the cable and cable end. This type of cable end also keeps its connection the longest in the event that any corrosion occurs.
WATER FILLING SYSTEM: These are flooded so they do require maintenance which we have simplified by incorporating a full single point watering system that also includes water level indicators. So when the reserve water level is low in the battery the operator will be notified on the main dash display. At that point all the batteries can be re-filled with water from one location. Just add distilled water with the included fill hose. SPECIFICATIONS: The flooded lead acid battery pack consists of 9 x 8 volt batteries making up a 72 volt 110 AH rated system. Or 7.9 kilowatt. In the case of a continuous amp draw of 85 amps (typical average) this battery pack will provide a range of about 50 kms.(range varies depending on driving habits, external conditions, payload etc.) Weight of battery pack is 550 lbs. For lighter weight batteries see lithium options |
LIFE EXPECTANCY: Basically there are two ways a battery normally fails. It either fails due to age which typically happens at 5 years or it fails due to cycles which can typically happen between 1-5 years. Also battery temperature affects the life as well. These batteries require maintenance so lack of maintenance plays a role in this calculation as well. For longer life batteries see lithium options.
CHARGER: The battery charger is a fully sealed unit that has a max amperage output of 21 amps. Charger is rated to 1.5KW. Vehicle plugs into the most common 15 amp 110 volt inlet (NEMA 5-15). Charge time from 0-100% is 7-8 hours. 0-80% is about 5-6 hours or 13-16% per hour. Near the inlet plug is a multi-colored charge indicator representing that the charger is powered and what charge state it it at (0-80%, 80-100% & charge complete). For faster re-charge times see lithium options. |
